Don't Lead Like an Ostrich

I came across a photo of an ostrich face today and immediately thought, how uncomfortable-looking!  There’s so much in that description…  And, it seems to me that I've seen that face before.  It’s the expression of obstinacy, the ugly "I've already got the answer" kind of attitude.
The life of an ostrich is not the life of an opportunist.  We are called to influence, and our leadership is made better by exposing ourselves to all kinds of models, methods and means.  If we lead by proverbially “keeping our head in the sand,” we will miss moments to truly lead forward.  Yes, anchor your values, but continue to evaluate your level of connectivity.  Remain open and flexible.  Leaders will only be change agents by their own willingness to change.  So, whatever you do, don’t lead like an ostrich!

What areas in your leadership do you need the challenge for potential change?
