The AMEN Culture?

The culture, “DNA,” of an organization or church is an interesting study to me.  I seldom grow weary of understanding what makes a business or group of people “tick” as it is an essential knowledge for moving forward.  Something that even brings greater joy is watching healthy culture take off…meaning, when signs begin to be evident that “this is who we are.”
While driving my son to school this morning, I sensed some healthy vibes.  We pray together every morning on that drive.  Sometimes my 5th grader seems to be engaged and other times, a bit distracted like boys his age.  (It’s also 7:00am.)  Today, however, when I finished with “amen,” he quietly yet sincerely repeated, “amen.”  What’s the point, you might think?  He more than likely doesn’t even truly understand that word, but because that’s who we are and thus what we do, he gets it.
Granted, there are many mornings that the engagement is only a wish from me, but one will never be able to take away the significance of organically getting the culture.  Here’s the challenge:  If you are endeavoring to instill DNA, stay the course and continue to cast the message.  Vision leaks.  Culture is created by an inundation of ingredients on an ongoing and on-purpose level.  Don’t let a lack of evidence distract you; rather, allow it to stir greater determination in you to remain in the process.  Make course corrections as necessary.  And, remember – vision is, many times, better caught than taught.  AMEN!

How can you keep your vision alive among those that follow?
