How do you view others in the body of Christ? I know, some are so different than we are... But the world of Christ-followers encompasses a whole lot of diversity - from Bangkok to Bangor, Maine...from Seattle to Santiago, Chile. A fresh thought has entered my heart as of late...the Family of God. It's still developing within me. Here's what's there so far: (1) We need to learn to appreciate what we have in our family heritage. There's no need to worry about shaking the proverbial family tree too hard... Grace will come forth. (2) We need to learn the importance of rightfully acknowledging other family members. The business of the believer is brotherhood, caring and loving those who belong to the family of God. (3) We need to anticipate our family inheritance. The Epistles are filled with the writings of expectant saints. The wish of the Christ-follower is not that a certain wealthy uncle will pass on so that we can get our share of the estate. Our inheritance is stored up for us in heaven where it can never spoil, be cheated from us or fade away.
One last word on this emerging truth: Remember the Persecuted Church, our brothers and sisters in other parts of the world who suffer for the Name of Christ. Sonship means suffering for the many who stand unashamed to be named among the family of God. They deserve our passionate prayers and faithful stand...
