Dealing with Indifference
On Wednesday nights, I have been teaching a series entitled, ACTING LIKE THE ANT: Doing Life with Diligence. Based on Proverbs 6:6-8, it is one of my favorite studies. A thought related to this came to me today while working in my home office watching and hearing the sleet cover the streets. How does someone's poverty of thought, emotion and activity affect others? I mean, can we get away with being "lazy" without it messing with anyone else's life? I read a quote today that started this all: "The enemy of life...is indifference." Dealing properly with the propensity of our flesh's slide into indifference has a great deal to do with developing an "I Care" attitude. A friend and I ate lunch together yesterday and were impressed to the max by the waiter. He did things for us as if he could read our mind: the extra bowl of chips (one for my friend and one for me)and the two to-go cups filled with our favorite drink, just to name a couple...all without us even asking for it. He went the extra mile. And, you know, the extra mile matters. It matters to me and it matters to you. Just like Drew, the GM at a fast food restaurant I visited Sunday night, offering me a refill not once but twice from my table... (They don't do that in most "fast-food joints".) So, I get it: The difference between someone who is indifferent and someone who cares is someone who makes a difference! And, I want to be a difference-maker. I know you do too! (P.S. book recommendation: "The Fred Factor: How Passion in Your Work and Life Can Turn the Ordinary into the Extraordinary" by Mark Sanborn)

Darren,
What do you know about the Fred Factor? My Nephew, Keith Craft, introduced me to Mark Sanborm, the instigator of the Fred Factor. Quite a story.
You might remember Keith. He is Pastor of Celebration Covenant Church in Frisco,TX. 4,300 members.
