The Features of Christ-Followers

It's amazing to realize how many people consider themselves a Christian. In sharing my faith and personal testimony one on one with people, coming down to that question of whether they believe in Jesus Christ to be the Savior of the World, it seems more often than not, that the response is "Yes, I'm a Christian." But what is a Christian? I came across a statistic that 85 percent of the people in the United States call themselves "Christians." However, we know that if all who profess Christianity were truly Christ-followers, the moral decline in our nation would not be as steep. So, I think we need to challenge our definition of what "Christianity" is all about...and consider the term "Christ-follower" more identifiable according to Scripture.
I have been mesmerized by a quote I came across just days ago. E. M. Bounds, the great writer and spiritual guide from more than a generation ago, said, "The men who have most fully illustrated Christ in their character, and have most powerfully affected the world for Him, have been men who spent so much time with God as to make it a notable feature of their lives."
More on this subject of Christ-follower Features later...

reminds me of one of my favorite quotes:

It is the best sorrow in a Christian soul when his sins are loathsome and offensive unto him--a happy token that there hath not been of late in him any insensible supply of heinous offenses, because his stale sins are still his new and daily sorrow.
-Thomas Fuller, Mixt Contemplations
