8/100ths of a Second

Okay...I'm totally into this year's Olympics in Beijing. It's all the talk about this Michael Phelps. He's got awesome talent and portrays a humble spirit. What a combination! Anyway, I saw it live on screen...the men's 4-100m freestyle relay. I couldn't believe what my eyes were actually seeing, which got me off the couch and on my feet...Jason Lezak of the US inching, and I mean literally inching his way past Alain Bernard of the favored French team. If you blinked at the wrong time, you missed it all together. The win (and what a win) consisted of 8/100ths of a second with the American team finishing at 3:08.24 and the French team at 3:08.32. One lesson you can walk away from in that particular experience: WINNING IS ABOUT THE SMALLEST OF DETAILS! Go team!!!
