It doesn't take me long to reflect on how blessed I am...especially in the category of family and friends. Back last Memorial Day weekend, I was presented with a big surprise. I already knew my parents were coming down for the weekend (Ethan and Emma were excited about that)...but what I didn't know is who they were bringing with them. Unaware to me, for months my dad and mom were making plans for both my dad's brother and mom's brother and their wives from Monroe, Louisiana to come to OKC to stay the weekend and go to church with us on Sunday. Michelle was even in on it. Needless to say, when they all arrived at our house on a Saturday evening, I was shocked beyond measure. It was absolutely incredible. And, to top it off, our good friends Donovan and Tanja Dufrene along with their daughter Brittany and fiance Richi brought homemade chicken and shrimp gumbo with all of the fikins'. You talk about totally awesome... (And, Donovan can cook up some mean gumbo.) I don't consider myself a spoiled person, but I was spoiled to the bone that particular weekend. Blessed beyond measure. By the way, you've got to get your hands on some of that Donovan gumbo. I mean it's the best! Here's a pic of me with my uncles. You can't get better than the gift of family and friends!
