Err on the Side of Confidence

If there's one thing I encourage young leaders in these days it's to be undauntedly courageous and confident.  Frankly, these are essential ingredients that must be continually stirred in leaders of all ages.  But what about being cautious...?  Shouldn't we be taught the value of careful steps and methodical decision-making?  Ernest Hemingway said it best: "Never confuse movement with action."  I have personally found the interesting teacher of life experience: there will be enough of such ebbs and flows that lessons of balance will prevail.  Are there times to be cautious?  Absolutely. And, yet, the greater value is to err on the side of confidence.  If we don't aggressively challenge others to be courageous and confident, caution will be the default...and, grand opportunities for the cause of forwardness will be missed.

What courageous steps do you need to take today?
