One last thought on this blog series: What can we learn from the “crowded” life of Christ? Maybe for the Christ-follower, a life that is surrounded by others who have yet to accept His sacrifice is a primary key to contributing to His kingdom. The narrative of the Nativity is the “Christian” story. How it played out among the least and overlooked…who it enlisted…and where it was situated in that part of the world…reveals much about the Christ-life. And, His three plus years of ministry, as He walked on the earth, confirmed the purpose of His “crowded” life. Christ came to demonstrate an eagerness to press into the culture and influence it for the good. His very words to those choosing to follow Him lay out that message: “You are the salt of the earth.” Salt must be applied to be useful; it must mix well with the intended product to make a difference. Not into crowds? Think of your life as one on assignment to another not yet Christ-follower. Don’t be threatened by the “crowded” workplace with secular ideas or the neighborhood that’s marked by different belief systems. Choose to shine and be salty...and, do it during this Christmas season especially. Follow the pattern of the STORY and approach others in humility and service. Say the kind word, do the generous gesture, and go out of your way to express grace. Find the unusual comfort on the crowded magazine rack of life. Christ does!
