THE REAL SEASON AND STORY

While writing this post, I'm sitting in a very familiar place: my parent's home. They've lived here right at twenty-five years...and the nostalgia runs deep! Lots of memories and lots of generosity flowing from this house. I can't help but meditate on the many ways my dad and mom have made the Christmas season special to their kids and now grand kids. And, with all the trimmings, decorations, and all-out gift-giving year after year, one aspect remains bigger: the reason for it all. I've been blessed to have such a rich legacy - that from one generation to another, the real meaning of Christmas is central to Christ!
It's quite the challenge to keep the real meaning alive amidst the crazy consumerism of our culture. The responsibility as Christ-followers becomes ever so intense and our activity around the tree, critical. So, singing the songs of the nativity, dwelling on the story and helping those in need are essentials... I read recently about a particular "underground" church that can only mouth the words of their worship choruses due to potential persecution. Let's raise our voices and eagerly lend our hearts in adoration to the Christ of Christmas! LET'S KEEP IT REAL! Without Him, there wouldn't be a reason to celebrate nor even a true desire. More on the Story later...
