Stuff on My Mind Lately

1. I really want us to be more community focused as a church. With that said, FREEDOM FEST '08 is an important event for me...for more than one reason. It not only gives us an opportunity to provide good, clean fun for our neighborhood with an atmosphere of celebrating our freedoms as a nation, but it also provides a venue for our own people to partner together in a big way to connect with others outside the walls of our church. This is so very essential to the present and future effectiveness of our church.

2. Global concern needs to remain a high priority at Lakeside. It's huge that we have brought in over $26,000.00 for the Kenya Connection (Lakeside's project for raising monies to rebuild churches in Kenya). There must be a timeline to deadline strategy with this project to maintain momentum. The goal is $50,000.00. We need to wind down this endeavor by the end of June. I believe the monies will be raised! We will praise God for whatever has come in. It's already a point of celebration for what has been raised.

3. Young family ministry must be a real concern and sensitive approach. There are few things more important to young parents and grandparents than proper security, fully-equipped caregivers and a family-friendly atmosphere for their children. That's why it is so significant that we take the remodel of our nursery facilities seriously. We need lots of help to get this project finished by the end of June. (Check the Lakeside bulletin for more information on how you can help now or Mike Lowder's blog by going to the Children's page on the Lakeside website.)

4. Middle School ministry is a big need in our culture...and the need for reaching students of all ages is growing rapidly. A new plan is being developed by our church leadership to begin a middle school ministry under the direction of our student ministries department. This emerging plan includes the remodel of the second floor of the family life center into a state of the art game room/snack shack and study area. Our projected start date for the middle school ministry is August 27th...along with a projected completion date of the game room - September 24th.

Lots going on at Lakeside. Just some things heavy on my mind. Thanks to all my partners!!!

I'm thankful for God-given vision. And you have to have community focus so that you have a need to have places for ministry, otherwise they'll just be empty rooms only for viewing enjoyment by the saints. hmmmmm....

What a thought. Thanks for the comments. Obedience proceeds opportunity. In other words, if we are going to be granted with ministry opportunities, we must first sense the personal and corporate responsibility of being obedient to God's call first...no matter what it is or what it costs!
