According to God's Will and By God's Grace

A passage of truth from God's Word has come to mind as of late...James 4:13-17.
13 Look here, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we are going to a certain town and will stay there a year. We will do business there and make a profit.” 14 How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog—it’s here a little while, then it’s gone. 15 What you ought to say is, “If the Lord wants us to, we will live and do this or that.” 16 Otherwise you are boasting about your own plans, and all such boasting is evil.
17 Remember, it is sin to know what you ought to do and then not do it.
I know, I have jumped the gun in the past, said something too soon, made a rush to judgment, all with good intentions, but carried out with little sensitivity to God's timing or knowledge of whether it was God's will for me to start with. And, I have been convicted of that as of late. The desire in me is to be a man of God and a spiritual leader that makes no assumptions on knowing the way to go in myself, but that every plan be bathed in prayer and surrounded by the counsel of God's Word and the timing of the Holy Spirit. Oh, it's always God's will that good happen, but there are times that God has a strategy for how and when that good is distributed and to whom. I'm also reminded of a parallel truth in Proverbs 3:5-7... "Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. Don’t be impressed with your own wisdom. Instead, fear the Lord and turn away from evil." I nor you have any wisdom apart from the Lord's. So, we should always assume we could be wrong and "walk humbly with our God" by seeking His counsel on a daily basis. And...cease making a habit of asking God to bless what we're doing, but rather begin to do what He's already blessings. In Jesus' Name, AMEN.
