A New Appreciation for an Occasional Road Trip

I'm not real big on taking extended road trips. Occasionally, however, it has proven to be somewhat medicinal. Michelle and I drove to Springfield, MO., last week for a meeting there. It's been a while since it's been just me and the wife. The life of a young family (a six year old and a four year old) makes it challenging at times to have one-on-one time - quality time - with your spouse. Thanks to gracious grandparents of our two, Michelle was available to travel with me. We had a great time being together, just the two of us. It was time to catch up and to actually hear each other talk without being interrupted. Don't misunderstand...we love our children, but it was just awesome to give the more important relationship a chance to breath fresh air. Michelle's thoughts and input are invaluable to me as we are given the opportunity to share back and forth about ministry ideas and challenges. So, all that to say..."Thanks, babe, for the company. I'm still feeding off of our time together."
(And, yes, for those of you who know Michelle, I realize that I married up.)
