What does it mean to be "born again?"

Metamorphosis... Transformation... Deconstruction to reconstruction... Nature provides some pretty amazing illustrations that we can learn from. One of creation's miracles is the change that takes place from a caterpillar to a butterfly. This fuzzy, squishy, worm-like insect wasn't born flying...but was born to fly. It's a teaching moment, without a doubt, when you think about it. But this transformation comes in a very unique way for this chubby worm. It dies a caterpillar and is raised to new life as a butterfly...never to return to its original state. So it is with those who accept Christ as their Lord and Savior - those who become "born again." Jesus said, "It's urgent that you listen carefully to this: Anyone here who believes what I am saying right now and aligns himself with the Father, who has in fact put me in charge, has at this very moment the real, lasting life and is no longer condemned to be an outsider. This person has taken a giant step from the world of the dead to the world of the living" (John 5:24).
Hey, I'm going to be answering this question in more detail this Sunday morning @ Lakeside. Come and check it out...and bring a friend. It's FRIEND DAY this Sunday, March 16th.
