In today's world of technology and social media, practitioners are
all about beginning a
"conversation." And, from a healthy platform of
relational discourse and learning, I'm all for it! But that's just it -
what constitutes a healthy direction...? There seems to be a fine line
between wanting to engage in a topic that will help enlarge
perspectives and taking personal issue with someone to only criticize an
individual or organization. So, is it honest conversation or
undermining criticism? In other words,
what good will it serve in the
end? That's probably a good question to ask concerning all of our
pursuits, especially when our goal is to build others up and not tear
them down. So, take time to evaluate how something will be perceived.
Understand that purpose and presentation has a lot to do with the
impact. If you have criticism to offer, go to the person without making
it public. And, keep the "back and forth" alive by embracing subject matter
that creates authentic dialogue for positive growth. Let's join
that conversation!
What "conversation" can you engage in today that will encourage the growth of others as well as the individuals involved?
