Reflections of My Core

Who are you, really? That’s a question that has rarely been asked without some emotion – frustration, confusion, anger, resentment, concern.  Have you ever asked yourself?  The reality of that answer lies deep, where the past and present connect in intensity.  What reveals who we are can be evident; these indicators are visible.  The reason we act and/or react…why we desire certain things…the perspective we possess…it all comes from our center.  This is not meant to oversimplify, but helpful words can point us to who we are and maybe even why we do what we do:
Our ATTITUDES, APPETITES, and ACTIONS – reflections of our core - lead us there.  What is your outlook on life?  What are those things that seem insatiable to you?  How do you behave on a regular basis?  These questions are worthy of uninterrupted thinking time.  Certain seasons of our life may reveal these things more than others.
Our core directs us and, in many cases, determines our future.  It not only reveals who we are, and even sometimes identifies why we do what we do, but it sets our course.  Sadly, many don’t see this depth and therefore don’t give much time to its maintenance.  But, our attitudes, appetites and actions can only be dealt with on this deep level.  Destinies are dealt with in the depths!
There is only one who has the key to the core of who you are.  Our Creator, the Almighty God, searches us.  The psalmist David acknowledged and invited this holy searching: “I'm an open book to you; even from a distance, you know what I'm thinking.  Investigate my life, O God, find out everything about me; Cross-examine and test me, get a clear picture of what I’m about; See for yourself whether I've done anything wrong – then guide me on the road to eternal life.” (Psalm 139:1-2, 23-24, the Message Bible)  Give God a chance…and, give Him the time to confront those issues by His grace as you ask yourself those questions with brutal honesty.  Life, family and business will be better when we allow God the opportunity to work on our core.  And, His work will be reflected in our attitudes, appetites and actions.

When can you allow that holy work to get deep?
