A Prayer to Love

Father, help me to love as you do...to let go of the petty...to harness unnecessary frustrations...to endure what would seem to be unfair...to profit from a misunderstood season...in order that I might be available and on-site to love.
Father, help me to forgive as you do...to overcome the thoughts of a hurtful conversation...to face with freedom the personality that has proven to be an obstacle...to judge the sin and not the sinner...to refrain from keeping score...in order that I might live lighter and be a lifter in the spirit of forgiveness.
Father, help me to serve as you do...to wait eagerly for the prodigal...to genuinely encourage the rejected...to offer a hand to the resistant...to listen to the harmless critic...in order that I might be a server in bridge-building to Your love and grace...all in the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ...Amen.
