What's the Big Deal about Easter? (For all the doubters and downplayers)

There's an article in the Huffington Post about not putting so much stock into the Easter experience as a local church.  The argument was based on why we throw a party for God anyway…”I kinda think that God may simply be humoring us in our misguided attempt to throw an Easter party for God.”  Well, my premise is not that at all, but rather taking advantage of what the world is already recognizing and adding real, biblical, creative meaning to it!
Here are five reasons why you SHOULD be making a big deal about Easter:

1.  It IS after all the most important holiday for the Christ-follower and the Christian Church.

2.  There’s no better time for the local church to maximize outreach because Easter always falls on a weekend.

3.  The message of the Passion and Resurrection of Christ is the most dramatic of all special occasions and is easy to build around and promote.

4.  The world recognizes the weekend as a non-spiritual holiday.

5.  It’s an opportunity to answer some very real and relevant questions the world has about the death, burial and resurrection of this undeniably popular figure Jesus Christ in some fun, creative and yet profound ways.

Sooo, go ahead!  Make a big to do about this most significant special occasion…and believe God for the supernatural results!
