Weight-loss for Churches, part two

Everything changes when you’re healthy! Regularly getting your heart-rate up and eating the right foods with proper portions can help with your attitude and perspective on responsibilities and life in general. So, what can this say about church life? When God’s people are feeding on His Word regularly in order to put it into daily practice, her attitude is better, too. Churches can lose the excess by getting back to the biblical purpose. In other words, the church experience can be enjoyed for all the right reasons...which leads us back to exercising margin and moderation…

Go to church because you are the Church.
Attending church really means nothing in and of itself. When we go to a worship experience for any other reason than to be trained to be sent out again as agents of spiritual change, we “institutionalize” the church. WE are the Church, and that’s why we gather together in what is called a church service. That perspective will keep His Body flexible!

Sing with your mind on the right object.
I love music…instruments that are playing well together, that is. But I’ve also learned to worship in many different styles. Preferences should never drive the priority of worship. Enjoy singing the songs, but think about the words and their focus. Clapping and raising hands, bending knees and voicing praise are great exercises for the heart.

It's about the church getting in shape for the spiritual mission she is called to. More to come in the next post...
