Last night as I was walking out of the house, my 7 year old girl asked where I was going. I replied to her in a whisper that dad was going to get mom some flowers for Valentine's Day. Her response was priceless: a big feminine smile broke out across her sweet face, in essence telling me that I was for sure on the right track. It's amazing to me how they connect...at such a young age. And, the flowers along with the cards and some other things really do matter. Why?
Love is more than just an emotion - IT'S A MOTION! The idea that it isn't and that just as long as we say we love is all that matters...comes from an ignorance that keeps us separated from reality and true relationship. Furthermore, this truth applies beyond the man and woman. Friendships need the expression; among family, giving cannot be taken for granted. When we love at any level, giving will be the common characteristic. Your "love language" doesn't have to be "gifts" to appreciate love that expresses itself. As a matter of fact, from the old adage - talk really is cheap when it isn't accompanied by something that proves it. So, let's pause the good we are saying and examine our words to see if they match the good we are doing. Integrity demands it; our loved-ones deserve it; the God of love expects it!
