Staying Fresh!

Pringles. Can't seem to help myself around that slender can of thin, crispy chips. Don't leave me alone with them. Just a few crumbles in my mouth and I'm drawn in. However, the other day, I went after a little something in our kitchen pantry, reaching high on the top shelf where the "good food" is kept. Back behind some bags of fritos, I saw the red cylinder. Working past the second rate snacks, I went for it. Popping open the plastic lid, the first crunch revealed to me the secret to why I really like these chips... They were purely stale, I mean disgustingly stale! I couldn't believe it. In a bit of emotional complaining, I asked to anyone who would hear my heart, "Hey, what happened to the Pringles? They've lost their taste!" Then I heard the conclusion: "Someone must have left the lid off..." A disappointing experience against what I know Pringles came be.

The very same detriment that steals freshness from my favorite chip can also keep us from being crisp. When we haven't had an opportunity to ourselves - those extended quiet times to pray, meditate, study - we grow stale. Left open to the world, carnal influences dull our senses. I despise not being fresh. This morning I asked the Father for fresh revelation, something new to my spirit. Our life among others demands it! I'm not just arguing a regularity of quiet times. Close yourself in and allow your devotional habits to go deeper. Ask the hard questions. Be spiritually challenged, mentally expanded, emotionally leveled. And, be ready to offer that tasteful experience when the lid is lifted on your life.

"Let your speech at all times be gracious (pleasant and winsome), seasoned [as it were] with salt, [so that you may never be at a loss] to know how you ought to answer anyone [who puts a question to you]." Colossians 4:6
