GOD MOMENTS 2

David, the Bible figure, is in the top five of most familiar Scripture characters. His story begins when the prophet Samuel is led by God to Jesse's house in search of a new king for Israel. After all but one of Jesse's sons are paraded before Samuel and rejected, Samuel offers these words: "Are these all the sons you have?" As though he were disappointed to mention the last on the rung of sons, Jesse sends for his youngest. He was tending his father's sheep. When he was sent for, his location was unmistaken - faithfully doing what was assigned to him by his earthly father. Shepherding sheep had to be potentially one of the slowest jobs with little to no measurables. Mundane Mondays assumably going from weeks to months without end…aside from a predator of sheep here and there. However, in the midst of those motionless months, David found relationship with His God to be rich. We pick up on the development of this divine interaction from the words of Psalm 23. Here's the point: The time spent, below the city lights and in the shadow of his bigger brothers, with the Good Shepherd was preparatory for his present as well as future. When David went to find favor with King Saul to fight the giant Goliath, he presented his mammoth experience of having the strength to go after and kill the lion and the bear that came to carry of his father's sheep. And, the slaying of the uncircumcised Philistine was approached with the same supernatural precession and strength -both found in relationship with the Good Shepherd. God moments come to the spiritually prepared. David was going after God with his heart, and that level of daily communion prepared him to fight victoriously, worship unashamedly, and lead purely. Our measure of faith and fortitude is developed by the daily commitment to give God first place in our life. And, first place means the seeming sacrifice at times of regular Bible study, prayer, fasting...when the feeling isn't there but the devotion is! The spiritual sharpener of on-purpose and from-the-heart time with Father God enables us to be awake when it's time to go to the next level in influence and impact...for His glory alone! Don't miss another moment...
