Someone said that failure is simply broken focus. I have found that this can apply to practically every area of life. And the primary enemy to life-focus is distractions: a financial setback, a relationship gone wrong, a troubled child, a physical symptom that doesn't seem to go away, a doctor's report, a missing possession, etc. The only way to deal effectively with these various distractions is to protect your blind side - that particular part of us that can't be seen by our own eyes. Let me break it down further: We live in a fallen world, and difficulty can potentially come to anyone. But how we respond to that difficulty is the critical element! Fear can be the emotional response to anything that doesn't agree to the "blessed life" God has called us into. And, fear is the result of an unprepared heart - when distractions sideswipe us on that unguarded blind side. So, here is what we need to know today, and frankly everyday: we protect our blind side (what we can't see coming on our own) by depending solely on Father God, feeding on His Word and living with a song of thanksgiving and praise in our hearts. Our confidence is not in earthly experience but on the Word of God working in the lives of His people. Abandon yourself to that kind of trust - a thought life that reflects only on a loving Father and a good report. Focus can return and the situation can be seen from heaven's point of view. Now is the right time to open our mouths and speak the praises and promises of God!
