Going with God-Sized Guts

With Halloween approaching, I was impressed with a devotional thought that I shared last Sunday night at our pastor appreciation banquet. In a nutshell, this was the truth shared: 1 John 4:4 says that greater is He that lives in me than he who lives in the world. 2 Timothy 1:7 says that "God did not give us a spirit of timidity (fear), but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline (a sound mind)." I also shared from Matthew 14's story of Jesus and Peter walking on water. Peter began to sink when he noticed and became emotionally overwhelmed with the winds and the waves. Why? Because there's a short battle between faith and fear. And, it's not really about the presence of Christ as much as it is what you know about the presence of Christ. Thus the reason I gave this acrostic for FAITH... I trust you are encouraged to move on with God-sized guts in any and every situation of your life...in Jesus' Name.

F - Fill the thought life with Jesus.

A - Articulate the Word of God in every situation.

I - Insist on giving no ground to the spirit of fear.

T - Thank God for watching over His Word to perform it.

H - Have what belongs to you as a child of God.
