The Walk

I have been extremely challenged from my personal study of Christ's walk during His time here on the earth. The gospels are given to us, I believe, to show us just how He lived His life among His culture and how that walk impacted His followers and the world. This particular look into the four gospel account of the New Testament became inspiration for the teaching series I am presently engaged in at Lakeside. The Scripture portion that brought me to this intriguing research is found in 1 John chapters 1 and 2...more specifically, 1 John 2:6, which says, "If we claim to be in Him we must walk as Jesus did." In other words, if we claim to have Christ as the Lord of our lives, we will most certainly demonstrate the walk Christ had on the earth in our walk. This is a remarkable challenge in and of itself. But the challenge is not to walk as Christ did, but to learn what it is to draw strength from our relationship with Christ so that walking as He is can most profoundly be possible. We can't walk as He did if we gave it all we had. It's not in us naturally to walk this out. Rather, it comes as Christ said in John 15:5 - "I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing." More on this insightful study later...
