There is one overarching reason I believe in divine healing. Many around the world, including me personally, have experienced this power to miraculously remove infirmity and disease from the physical body. I am also aware of many who have not been healed. It's tempting to use experience as the reason to believe...however, what about those who have suffered and died under the influence of sickness? Therefore, that particular reason has obvious holes in its argument. There seems to be a much better reason to promote: the Word of God declares it. Far more than just a few passages of Holy Scripture gives credence to this belief in divine healing. Isaiah 53:4-5 says, "Surely He has borne our griefs (sicknesses, weaknesses, and distresses) and carried our sorrows and pains [of punishment], yet we [ignorantly] considered Him stricken, smitten, and afflicted by God [as if with leprosy]. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our guilt and iniquities; the chastisement [needful to obtain] peace and well-being for us was upon Him, and with the stripes [that wounded] Him we are healed and made whole." Bringing it to the New Testament of Scripture, Matthew 8:16-17 confirms, "When evening came, they brought to Him many who were under the power of demons, and He drove out the spirits with a word and restored to health all who were sick.
And thus He fulfilled what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah, He Himself took [in order to carry away] our weaknesses and infirmities and bore away our diseases." So, I build my faith around what the Word of God says and not what experience is telling me. More on this later...
